CNN reporter shed tears during live broadcast of “reality of having funerals at parking lot”

CNN reporter, who was reporting on the medical scene of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in the United States, was unable to connect during a live broadcast, and in the end, tears fell. The emotions intensified while conveying the situation at the hospital in the aftermath of Corona 19.

On the 12th (local time), CNN reporter Sarah Sidner visited the Corona 19 treatment hospital in California to hear the voices of medical staff, patients, and family members.

California is in the worst situation with around 30,000 corona19 patients per day. The medical staff were exhausted by the crowd of patients, and patients and their families were enduring day by day in pain and sorrow.

Among the people Sidner met was Juliana Jimenez Sesma, a woman who lost both her mother and stepfather due to Corona 19 on the 11th. Sesma was honoring her parents in the hospital parking lot due to the lack of a funeral home. “If you really love someone,” he said in an interview, “be sure to follow the precautionary rules until the end so that this does not happen.”

Sidner was scheduled to finish the report after Sesma’s interview. The camera turned to Sidner. However, he could not continue with the last comment. This is because the emotions intensified in Sesma’s interview and tears burst out. He managed to open his mouth, but he was choked and could not speak.

He said, “I’m sorry,” and ended up sobbing. Unexpectedly, anchor Ellison Camerota comforted him, saying, “Your sadness is every group trauma we all go through. There is no need to be sorry. I understand that feeling.”

The next day, Sidner posted a contribution on CNN’s website and shared his feelings at the time. They said that they were angry and crying at the reality of the United States, where they have no choice but to have their parents funered in parking lots and anger at those who ignore the quarantine rules and act on their own.

Sidner, who was shocked by Sesma’s story, said, “I thought of Sesma, who would be alone in the morning in an empty house without parents,” and said, “There is nothing more lonely and painful than losing a family member.”

“I can’t tell you how difficult it is to constantly experience two distinctly different worlds in one beautiful but imperfect America,” he said. He added that one of the’two different worlds’ is reality (which has to fight Corona 19), and the other is a world based on conspiracy theory.

Sidner said, “I have been struggling with patients in intensive care units all over the country who were suffering from pain and dying,” he said. On the other hand, at the gas station on the way home from work, he said, “Why are you wearing a mask?”

He said that it was quite confusing for him to encounter the scene of a struggle at the forefront of Corona 19 and the appearance of a casual living ignoring the seriousness of the situation.

He said, “You must have seen anger in my tears. I am worried about the United States and I am worried about Corona 19.” He confessed that the mixed feelings of anger and anxiety led to a’broadcast accident’.
