CJ Logistics raises shipping cost by 200 won to new shippers… “Part of realizing fares”

[이데일리 윤정훈 기자]CJ Logistics is raising the delivery cost for some corporate customers (shippers). CJ Logistics is in a position that it is inevitable to raise the price of parcel delivery as a large amount of cost is invested in improving the working conditions of the parcel delivery engineer, including the introduction of sorting personnel.

According to the industry on the 3rd, CJ Logistics will raise an average of 200 won per box to new contractors starting this month. This increase targets 500 new shippers and companies that have previously suffered losses due to low unit prices. The 500 companies that are large customers are large enough to account for 40% of the total volume.

CJ Logistics is working to improve the treatment of courier drivers, including 4200 sorting personnel from last year to this day. In order to cover the cost, it has started to raise the courier cost.

Until now, low courier rates have been pointed out as the cause of creating a poor environment for courier drivers and agencies. In fact, the average price of parcel delivery last year was 2,221 won, the lowest ever. The parcel delivery price, which was 3,500 won in 2000, has been declining every year. The courier industry is in a position to realize the price as a national consensus has been formed on the improvement of the treatment of courier drivers this year. The government, courier companies, courier agency associations, and overwork prevention countermeasure committees are discussing the extent of price increase and distribution.

CJ Logistics is choosing to increase the delivery cost for some corporate customers rather than a lump sum increase. This is because the entity that signed the contract with the customer is not CJ Logistics, but an individual agency.

An official who runs a CJ Logistics agency said, “If customers are notified of an increase in courier fees, they often ask if other companies are increasing, but they generally agree.” I did it.”

As CJ Logistics, the No. 1 in the industry, raises delivery costs, companies such as Hanjin, Lotte Global Logistics, and Rosen are also expected to raise delivery costs.

An official of CJ Logistics said, “We are discussing each year when the courier re-contracts with the shipper to realize freight rates,” and “This is not a lump sum policy, but an increase for some shippers.
