While the Myanmar military is in the process of preliminary suspension for re-establishment after the coup, a separate civilian government established in response to the military coup is preparing for a’disobedience’ revolution, and confrontation is becoming clear.

According to Reuters news agency on the 13th (local time), Vice President Man Yun Kaing Tan, appointed by the’Federal Assembly Representative Committee’ (CRPH), gave a public speech for the first time through Facebook in a hiding place on the same day.

The CRPH was formed by members of the Democratic National Alliance (NLD), which was the ruling party of Aung San Suu Kyi’s civilian government, and was elected in the general election last November. Since the coup prevented the civil government’s cabinet from functioning, they appoint a minister, etc., and are pursuing recognition of the legal civil government.

The CRPH is meeting representatives of ethnic armed groups that dominate various parts of Myanmar to realize federal democracy. Some have already expressed support.

Acting Vice President Man Yun Kaing Tan is leading such a separate civil government on behalf of Suu Kyi and President Yun Min, who are being held in custody by the military. “It’s the darkest moment in the country right now, but the dawn is not far,” he said in a Facebook speech.

He emphasized that “this revolution is an opportunity to unite our forces in order to achieve the federal democracy that our brothers of all nations, who have been through the various oppressions of dictatorship for decades, truly desire.” He explained that the CRPH will promote the necessary legislation so that the citizens have the right to protect themselves, and that they will form a temporary national administration team to carry out public administration.

After the speech that day, thousands of people commented on Facebook, saying, “You are our hope. We will be with you.” After the coup, starting with a strike by medical staff, thousands of public officials are participating in the disobedience movement, saying they will not work as subordinates of the military. As a result, many areas of the economy as well as government administration are paralyzed out of the control of the military.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that at least 12 people were killed in the military’s use of force, including live ammunition, in the protests, citing local media Myanmar Now, BBC Burma and witnesses. He explained that it was one of the most bloody days after the coup.

Earlier, the Myanmar military government held a coup on the 1st of last month due to election denial, and then detained a shame torture and declared a state of emergency for one year. The military insists that it is not a coup to seize power, but to correct the irregularities in the general election held in November last year. Since then, the military has been criticized by the international community for violent suppression, such as firing live ammunition at protesters that oppose the coup.
