Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungbuk slightly increased
Chungnam employment rate 62.4%… 1.3%p↓
Unemployment rate declines in all regions
[충청투데이 송해창 기자] In the Chungcheong area, it was investigated that a cold wave of employment hit the Chungnam region last year.
In Chungnam, the employment rate and the economically active population declined, and the unemployment rate increased.
According to the’Employment Trends in December 2020 and Annual Chungcheong Area’ released by the Chungcheong Regional Statistics Office on the 13th, the employment rate in Daejeon last year rose 0.9%p to 60.7%, and the unemployment rate rose 0.2%p to 4.4%.
The economically active population was 816,000, an increase of 10,000 (1.2%p) from the previous year, and the number of employed was 780,000, an increase of 8,000 (1.1%p).
Sejong’s employment rate was calculated at 62.7%, up 0.2%p, and the unemployment rate rose 0.1%p to 2.8%.
The economically active population increased by 13,000 (7.3%p), and the number of employed increased by 12,000 (7.2%p).
In Chungbuk, the employment rate was 63.2%, up 0.3%p, and the unemployment rate rose 0.1%p to 3.2%.
The economically active population rose by 12,000 (1.3%p) and employed 890,000, up 10,000 (1.1%p) from last year.
On the other hand, in Chungnam, the employment rate, the economically active population, and the employment rate fell, and the unemployment rate was found to have risen.
The employment rate in Chungnam last year fell 1.3%p to 62.4%, and the unemployment rate also increased 0.6%p to 3.5%.
The economically active population also decreased from 1218,000 to 13,000 (-1.0%p), and the number of employed also decreased to 1.176,000, which decreased by 20,000 (-1.6%p).
Last year, in the job market, the number of unemployed in face-to-face jobs such as wholesale, retail and lodging services, which were directly hit by the corona spread, has increased dramatically.
Last year, it was confirmed that only 154,000 were employed in the wholesale, retail, lodging, and food industry in Daejeon. The number of employed workers decreased from 160,000 a year ago.
During the same period, the number of employed at wholesale, retail and lodging restaurants in Chungnam decreased by 8,000.
An official of the National Statistical Office said, “The decline in the number of employed was large, mainly in the face-to-face service sectors such as wholesale and retail, lodging and restaurant businesses,” and “It is analyzed that a cold wave of employment has hit only temporary workers, youth, and 30s.”
