As a result of the registration of candidates for the election of the president of the Football Association, which ended at 6 pm on the 23rd, Chairman Chung Mong-gyu finished alone.
With one candidate for registration, the Football Association decides whether to win the election through the deliberation of the candidates by the Election Commission instead of holding the election scheduled for January 6, according to the regulations of the Korean Sports Association.
Although deliberation by the Election Committee remains, Chairman Chung’s 3rd selection is certain because he has already been allowed to challenge the 3rd line from the Sports Fair Committee of the Korean Sports Association, and there are no special reasons for disqualification.
According to the regulations, the Football Association will announce the status of the candidate registration deadline on the 24th, and then announce the winners on January 7th next year after going through the election committee.
Chairman Chung, who first took the lead in the 52nd presidential election in January 2013, won the 53rd presidential election in July 2016, and succeeded in reappointing the delegates unanimously.

According to the regulations of the Korean Sports Association, executives of member sports organizations can only be reappointed once, but if their contributions such as financial contributions, major international competition scores, and group evaluation are clear, exceptions have been made to challenge the third term.
On the 28th of last month, after receiving permission from the Korea Sports Association’s Sports Fair Committee to challenge the 3rd line, Chairman Chung submitted a statement of intention to register the candidate to the Secretariat of the Football Association on the 2nd and entered a state of suspension.
Chairman Chung was the only one to submit documents during the candidate registration period that began on the 21st, and other candidates did not accept it until 6 pm, the deadline for registration of candidates, and the third line was ahead.
