The new Seoul Southern District Prosecutor’s Office, Shim Jae-cheol, emphasized the’restrained prosecutor’s power’ as his inauguration. Prosecutor Shim also pointed out that “excessive involvement of prosecutors’ power can lead to misunderstandings about political neutrality, and selective intervention may undermine political neutrality.” He added, “If the prosecutors themselves investigate themselves, they will have no choice but to become a biased party, and the investigation will soon lead to prosecution. Prosecutor Shim was appointed as the Chief of the Anti-Corruption and Power of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office in the first greeting of Minister Chu. After that, he served as the chief prosecutor of the Ministry of Justice, and was transferred to the Southern District Prosecutor’s Office after Park Bum-gye was inaugurated as the new Justice Minister. It is reported that the Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol requested a replacement due to last year’s responsibility for the conflict with the Ministry of Justice.
