Former Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae visited Jeju on the 17th and asked a reporter whether to run for the presidential election. In the meantime, Minister Chu added, “The people who felt frustrated, the people who said it couldn’t be done at this speed, will also ask for a leader to solve the challenges of the times.”

When asked whether or not to run for president after visiting Jeju 4·3 Peace Park, “Is it possible to go out at any time?”

Minister Chu said, “There was a war in the era of industrialization and in the world, and 20 years have already passed since the 20th century, when there was a war in Korea, and passed into the 21st century. But our thinking system still has a regressive force trying to crush any truth into black and white logic.”

He continued, “Although we have already lit candles to restore the constitutional order and succeeded in the civil revolution, there are forces to restore it again.”

He said, “In order for this era to move forward, those who politicize those ideas that fit the direction of the era should take the initiative.” We will ask for a leader to unravel.

He said, “There will be some of you who will hone and devise to meet the call of the times and the demands of the times and prepare well,” he said. “Would I not know if I feel that I need various future visions that I have. At the moment, I am thinking of various things, so it is difficult to say everything here.”

Minister Chu visited Jeju 4 and 3 Peace Park this afternoon and worshiped with the families of the 4 and 3 victims, and in the guestbook, “We are finally able to give freedom to spirits. Through the strength of long patience and solidarity, we have opened up truth, peace, and coexistence.”

For the first time, Minister Choo found a list of 4·3 prisoners in the National Archives of Korea at the time of the first elected National Assembly member of the New Political National Assembly in 1999. This list of prisoners served as the starting point for leading 4·3 surviving prisoners to request a retrial for illegal military trials.
