Cho Min, the daughter of former Justice Minister Cho Kook, who recently passed through the medical office, applied for an internship at the National Medical Center (NMC) under the Ministry of Health and Welfare and has already completed an interview. NMC received an intern application in the form of in-person submission of applicants on the 25th-26th, and in the process, Mr. Cho’s application was announced.

The NMC refused to confirm the official, but multiple hospital officials said, “16 people applied for the quota, and Mr. Jo is included here.” In addition, “interviews accounted for not a small percentage of the successful candidates by adding national grades (65%), medical school grades (20%), and interview grades (15%).” He also said, “We are making the pass of Mr.

As Jo passed the medical office, there is no problem with applying for an intern at the NMC. However, as NMC is under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and President Ki-Hyun Jung is known as an aide to President Moon Jae-in, suspicion has been raised that the breath of the Ministry of Health and Welfare has worked over Mr. Jo’s internship support.

In this regard, suspicion is also raised against the background of the Ministry of Health and Welfare increasing the number of residents in NMC’s dermatology from one to two this year. Before and after the intern application process, Mr. Jo said, “I want to do residency training at the dermatology department after completing the internship.”

The NMC communication team only explained, “The Ministry of Welfare increased the number of dermatologist residents in the name of’separate quota’ at the end of last year.”

In fact, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has increased the total number of residents by four more than last year because NMC is a hospital dedicated to public medical care such as Corona 19.

What is curious is that the number of residents in dermatology and ophthalmology, which is a popular subject, has been increased, rather than medical subjects related to infectious diseases or public medicine. In the case of the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescents in this hospital, there is no resident quota and only one neurology department.

The procedure for increasing the number of seats is also beyond the usual precedent, so there are many words behind it. Usually, the number of majors assigned to each training hospital is adjusted by the Society in consideration of the training environment, and then the Ministry of Health and Welfare is finally approved.

Officials explained that even though the Ministry of Health and Welfare has reduced the number of seats due to insufficient environment, it has never increased the number of seats.

“Dermatology is very competitive, so each university is very sensitive to the number of seats,” said Jeong-su Kim, director of education at the Korean Dermatology Association. Everyone was resentful.”
