During a public hearing on the National Assembly Land Transport Committee’s Gadeok New Airport Special Act, the evaluations of the political parties in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam for the Democratic Party’s Cho Eung-cheon (Namyangju, Gyeonggi) and Lee Heon-seung (Busan Jin-eul), the power of the people, were greatly diverged. Rep. Cho expressed his opposition to the enactment of the special law, earning resentment from the ruling party lawmakers, and Lee made a great contrast by mentioning the necessity of the special law with various data and logic, while the leadership of the People’s Power House was somewhat unclear.

At a public hearing on the day, Congressman Cho opposed the special law, saying, “The airport must be carefully located and sized.”

A Democratic Party member said, “I know that it was not possible to cooperate even when Cho was scheduling a public hearing,” he said. Another lawmaker said, “I think that’s because I’m from Daegu.” Representative Cho’s hometown is Daegu. In particular, in that Congressman Cho signed a special bill, it is evaluated that his opposition was even more embarrassing within the party.

On the other hand, Rep. Lee Heon-seung said, “Gimhae Airport does not operate 24 hours,” and mentioned the need for 24-hour operation of Gaduk New Airport. “There is no case of parallel design and construction such as Incheon Airport 2nd Passenger Terminal or SOC project. There is no problem in the parallel promotion of the final design and construction.” He emphasized the fact that there are no defects in the special law. An official from Busan City said, “If the secretary of the people’s power was not for Lee, what would have been done?”
