On the 3rd, Democratic Party member Jo Eung-cheon expressed concern that the Democratic Party’s Special Committee on Prosecution Reform is pursuing the establishment of a serious crime investigation office (heavy water office) that completely deprives the prosecution of the prosecution’s right to investigate.

Rep. Cho, who was a former prosecutor, posted a post on his Facebook page titled’More important than the separation of investigation and prosecution’, saying, “Even though there is already a national organization, the National Investigation Headquarters, we will establish a separate serious crime investigation office to completely deprive the prosecution of investigation rights. I don’t know the reason for coming out,” he said.

He said, “According to the presidential secretary’s office, even the President, who has a firm opinion of the reform of the prosecution, said,’They said that the reform of the investigative rights should be settled and that the ability to respond to criminal investigations and the ability to investigate anti-corruption should not retreat.’ I don’t know more about the reason why I pushed forcibly while ignoring it,” he pointed out.

“How do people live if there is no judicial control, but if only investigative agencies are created and the total amount of investigation is increased?” he asked, “From the public’s point of view, it does not matter who conducts the investigation. Rather, there is always a possibility of infringing on my basic rights. How to control the right to investigate is important,” he stressed. He then emphasized that “investigation command power and judicial control are much more important and a point to pay attention to.”

Rep. Cho suggested to the members of the Party Prosecutors’ Reform Special Committee, “Let’s focus first on ensuring that, as the President said, the reform of the investigative rights implemented this year is settled, and the ability to respond to criminal investigations and the capacity to investigate anti-corruption do not retreat.”

Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol said, “It is important to find the best way to protect the basic rights of the people from false investigations. You should not just ask to protect the current prosecution.” “Isn’t it a fact that everyone knows the problem?”

He added, “I ask the Minister of Justice Park Beom-gye,” he added. “As long as you become a member of the State Council, don’t think about the party first, and I hope you will well support the president’s governing philosophy for judicial administration.”
