It was confirmed that Cho Doo-soon (68), who was released in December last year as a child sex offender, received various welfare benefits of about 1.2 million won per month, including a basic pension paid to the elderly.
According to officials in the Ansan region of Gyeonggi Province on the 2nd, Ansan City judged and passed the qualifications for basic living security benefits for the couple at the end of last month.
Earlier, on December 17 last year, five days after being released from the prison, Cho Doo-soon applied for basic living security benefits with his spouse at the same time as his basic pension to be paid to seniors aged 65 or older.
As they passed the qualification screening, the Cho Doo-soon received a total of 1.2 million won per month, including a basic pension of 300,000 won, a living wage of 620,000 won for two, and a housing benefit of 260,000 won.
In particular, the couple received welfare benefits for January of this year at the end of last month, and it is known that they also received some of the welfare benefits for December last year after the application date.
The Cho Doo-soon couple can receive up to 920,000 won in living wages for two people, but when they received the basic pension, the amount was reduced by that amount.
In the screening process for the selection of basic livelihood security recipients, Cho Doo-soon is an elderly man who is 65 years of age or older and has no working ability. It is reported that it has concluded that there is no reason to exclude it from the target of payment.
A city official said, “It is not possible to disclose whether the Cho Doo-soon couple is selected for welfare benefits, etc., because it is personal information.” Said.
Meanwhile, after the application for welfare benefits for Jo Doo-soon was reported in the media, a petition post titled’Do not give Jo Doo-soon the basic living supply subsidies’ was posted on the Blue House National Petition bulletin board.
More than 61,000 people have agreed to this petition so far.
