When the rumor spread that the Myanmar military regime would seek Chinese support to stop social network services (SNS), which are vividly accusing the world of the coup situation, the Chinese government strongly denied it.
According to the state-run Global Times on the 14th, the Chinese embassy in Myanmar urged to resolve the current political situation through internal dialogue and communication between Myanmar, as there is no evidence that China is sending information technology (IT) personnel to Myanmar.
Local media in Myanmar reported that the Myanmar military regime is currently pushing for a new cyber bill, and if it detects strange behavior, the authorities may intercept messages through social media such as Facebook or Twitter.
Chinese authorities, suspected of being a “back-up” of Myanmar’s military, have a powerful Internet censorship system that blocks sensitive overseas sites or SNS in order to filter out unfavorable information. Overseas, this is called the’Great Firewall’ in relation to the Great Wall of China.
When Myanmar netizens claimed to support the’Chinese IT expert boarding theory’, a Chinese aircraft landing on the runway at Yangon Airport suddenly appeared on SNS, and a’Chinese support theory’ came out.
Accordingly, the Myanmar protesters have been protesting in front of the Chinese embassy in Yangon since the 10th.
The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar explained, “Recently, flights between China and Myanmar are regular cargo and carry only import and export products such as seafood.”
“Myanmar’s Internet administration is Myanmar’s internal affairs and China never interferes,” said Qin-an, head of China Cyber Strategy Research Institute.
In addition, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar emphasized the constructive role of China, as if considering the recent anti-China situation in Myanmar.
The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar said, “In order to promote the long-term interests of the country and people of Myanmar, all parties must resolve disagreements through dialogue and return to the normal situation. China is willing to play a constructive role as a friendly neighbor of Myanmar. I am doing that again.”
