China overwhelmingly passed’Hong Kong election system reform plan’… American backlash

[앵커]

With the United States taking full-scale checks against China, there is something else that will make the two countries bigger. The reorganization of the Hong Kong election system was passed by the Chinese NPC without any objections, which allowed pro-Chinese officials to take control of the Hong Kong government. The issue is also expected to be addressed next week at a meeting with senior US-China diplomatic officials.

China’s legislative body, the National People’s Congress, has passed a draft bill to reform the Hong Kong election system.

The reorganization, passed with applause, literally received overwhelming support.

A total of 2896 people participated, with 2895 people in favor and 1 abstention, and no objection.

The core of this reorganization plan is to increase the proportion of pro-Chinese by excluding 117 seats for the anti-Chinese council members among the electoral corps that elect the Hong Kong administrative minister.

In this case, pro-Chinese personnel can reliably take control of the Hong Kong administration as well as the legislature.

However, significant impact is expected both inside Hong Kong and internationally.

Hong Kong’s democratic forces are in a position that China’s commitment to Hong Kong is that the two countries, the so-called one-country system, are virtually over.

The United States also filled China.

The conflict between the two countries may be revealed at a high-level meeting with US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the 18th.

Earlier, Secretary Blincoln pressed China’s attitude change by saying, “Not only is it a strategic dialogue, and at this point, we are not willing to hold a series of follow-up dialogues.”
