The antipathy surrounding’Chosun Gumasa’ is not very serious.
On the 23rd, a message was posted on the Blue House National Petition Bulletin, saying, “We request that the broadcast of the historical distortion Northeast Fair Drama’Choseongu Masa’ is immediately stopped.” The author insisted, “I hope that dramas with contents that are like garbage that give stress to the people will be immediately discarded and finished.”
The petition is being reviewed by the Blue House, with more than 100 people agreeing at once.
Civil complaints from the Korea Communications Standards Commission also exploded. About 900 civil complaints related to’Chosun-gu Masa’ were received within a day of broadcasting. The number of civil complaints is expected to increase further until it is put forward as an official agenda, as public opinion criticizes’Chosun-gu Masa’ is high.

In addition, the list of products and brands that participated in the production investment, production support, and advertisement of’Chosun-gu Masa’ are turning around the online community, and even a’boycott’ movement is emerging. Going away from the antipathy for the content of’Chosungu Masa’, there is a growing voice saying, “This drama should not be released.”
‘Joseongu Masa’ is a drama about Taejong (Gam Woosung) and Chungnyeongdaegun (Jang Dongyoon), who will later become King Sejong, fight against evil spirits in the Joseon Dynasty. It attracted attention as a masterpiece with a production cost of 32 billion won, but it turned into a controversial problem after a day of airing.
Part of the first broadcast that was greatly disliked was the distortion of history and the use of Chinese-style props.
From the beginning of’Joseongu Masa’, Taejong misunderstood Taejo’s ghost and slaughtered the people. Taejong was a king with liberal arts. He is called the’blood lord’ who even caused the’prince’s quarrel’ to defeat the brothers for a powerful kingship, but there is no history of slaughtering ordinary people. It’s an obvious distortion.
Here, as the genius monarchs of Joseon, Sejong and Chungnyeongdaegun, who have been respected by the people until now, hear half words from the interpreter Marco (Seo Dong-won) and appear as shortcomings who cannot speak properly. It is pointed out that even though there was a martial arts called’The First Sword’, it did not appear in the’Chosungu Masa’, and the setting of being helpless by evil spirits made viewers frown.

More than anything else, the fact that the architecture and menu of the architecture of the Joseon border area that Marco asked for and found in the Joseon Dynasty was Chinese style, raised his antipathy. On the Chinese table, sweets, goose eggs, and dumplings were used, and the courtesans wore hanbok. The production crew explained that it was “showing imagination”, but criticism is growing that “the production crew was comfortable” amid growing concerns about China’s Northeast project.
Here, writer Park Gye-ok, who wrote’Chosun Gumasa’, became the main character of the controversy with the line “The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty is Jirasi” in the previous work,’Queen Iron Man’. Recently, while signing a contract with a Chinese content producer, suspicion was raised about “Isn’t you Koreans?”
Nevertheless, the antipathy toward’Masa Chosun-gu’ and writer Park Gye-ok is growing. In particular, Jeonju Lee Jong-in-hoe, who was directly hit by the distortion of history, said to Hankyung.com that he would “formly protest”.
Jongchinhoe official said, “If you create a play with imagination, why should I use it as a fictional character, why do I bring in an actual character and fit it and distort it?” I went, but I wonder if it will happen again this time.”
He added, “I don’t understand why these writers keep writing, and why these writers are airing,” he added. “It’s the first broadcast, so it will be more historically distorted in the future, but I think I should watch it.”
