Chairman Tae-won Choi and Eui-seon Jeong are concentrating on expanding the hydrogen ecosystem

SK Group chairman Choi Tae-won and Hyundai Motor Group chairman Eui-sun Eui-sun met on the 2nd in Incheon, and decided to actively seek cooperation areas where the two companies can create synergy, such as the hydrogen industry.

Chairman Choi and Chairman Chung held a discussion meeting with the management of both groups before attending the 3rd Hydrogen Economy Committee held at SK Incheon Petrochemical, presided over by Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun, to discuss ways to expand the hydrogen ecosystem.

From the side of SK Group, CEO Choi, Dong-Hyun Jang, President of SK Corp., Hyung-wook Choo, President of SK E&S, and Yoon-seok Choi, President of SK Incheon Petrochemical, attended. In the Hyundai Motor Group, Chairman Chung, Young-Woon Gong, President of Hyundai Motor Company, CEO Sung-Hwan Cho, President of Hyundai Mobis, and Se-Hoon Kim, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company, were present.

They agreed that hydrogen is an essential element of achieving carbon neutrality to realize a sustainable society, and decided to discover various business models to expand the supply of hydrogen electric vehicles.

With the meeting of Chairman Choi and Chairman Chung on the same day, expectations for a partnership in the hydrogen business of the two groups, which are recently strengthening cooperation in the electric vehicle battery business, are also growing.

First, it was decided to gradually convert over 1,500 vehicles operating at SK Group’s business sites into hydrogen electric vehicles produced by Hyundai Motor Company, and Hyundai Motor Group provided hydrogen commercial vehicles such as hydrogen cargo trucks (2022) and hydrogen tractors (2024). SK Group discussed ways to use it.

It also decided to join forces to build hydrogen and ultra-high-speed electric vehicle charging infrastructure. By the end of this year, we will also discuss specific cooperation plans to install hydrogen charging stations for commercial vehicles at SK Nae Truck House, which is a logistics service base in Incheon and Ulsan, and to install hydrogen charging stations and electric vehicle rapid chargers (200kW class) at SK gas stations nationwide. I decided to do it.
