The board of directors of Korea East-West Power (President Il-Joon Park) conducted on-site inspections to prevent safety accidents at power plants during the thaw period, and began to strengthen ESG (environmental, social, governance) management.
East-West Power Corp. announced that on the 9th, Chairman Kim Hong-cheol and other board members visited the Dangjin Power Plant headquarters to check the status of safety management implementation, including on-site inspections for planned maintenance work.
On this day, the on-site inspection was conducted at the request of the Chairman of the Board of Directors Kim Hong-cheol, as part of an effort to strengthen ESG management centered on the board of directors.
At this meeting, non-executive directors received a report on the safety management promotion system of East-West Power, and visited Unit 5, which is undergoing planned preventive maintenance, to check the status of facility reinforcement related to on-site safety and management of safety hazards.
East-West Power has established the ‘2021 Safety Management Responsibility Plan’, and the management including the CEO continues to implement safety management at the plant site.
In this plan, under the vision of’a happy workplace that protects the lives and health of working people’, the ‘3S’ strategic direction of △Strong Safety △Smart, △Safe Work Environment (Safe) was incorporated.
In accordance with this plan, the Dangjin Power Plant has institutionalized safety activities for each stage of planned, preventive maintenance, and construction in the relevant guidelines, and standardized the standards for identification, work arrangement, and safety education by establishing a management standard for short-term workers.
In addition, a virtual reality (VR) safety experience center incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) technology was completed earlier this month to provide effective safety experience education. The developed VR safety education content will be distributed free of charge to partners and small private workplaces.
Chairman of the Board of Directors Kim Hong-cheol said, “In order to create a safe working environment for all employees, including suppliers, it is necessary to take a close look at the site, and the BOD will also try to provide sufficient support for the safety-related budget and manpower.”
In addition, he urged, “Please endeavor to be a safe power plant trusted by the people by safely completing the construction of environmental facilities that will be carried out in the future.”
