Kim Jung-tae (69), chairman of Hana Financial Group, the new head of the Korea Women’s Professional Golf Association (KLPGA), expressed his ambition to promote the strengthening of the international competitiveness of the association and players as a top priority.

Chairman Kim Jong-tae was elected as the 14th president of the four-year term at the KLPGA General Assembly in 2021 held at Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 11th. At a press conference immediately after the General Assembly and inauguration ceremony, Chairman Kim said, “Korean women’s golf has played a great role in delivering emotion and hope to the people and promoting Korea to the world.” I feel responsible.”

In particular, Chairman Kim stressed, “It is an important time for KLPGA, which has been constantly developing, to leap beyond the domestic market to a true Asian golf hub and go out to the world.” Last year, he established the foundation for the women’s Asian Professional Golf Tour (LAT) by launching the Asia Golf Freedus Forum (AGLF). “Korea has a close relationship with golf associations such as Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore. It is one of the efforts to become,” he said. “As KLPGA becomes a co-host with LAT, the stage for Korean players to play will be able to expand further.”

Chairman Kim, who promised to improve KLPGA’s international competitiveness and establish a welfare system through the introduction of a pension system, to discover and promote various profitable businesses, and to communicate smoothly, said, “I will try to receive benefits beyond the dues paid by the members, and I will often talk with the delegates in the form of meetings rather than meetings.”

Regarding the 2021 season tour, he said, “At this time, we expect all the tournaments scheduled for this year to be held. I will.” He then made it clear that he would use the lower tour as the driving force for the development of the regular tour, saying, “In order for the first part tour to work well, the second and third part tours must be activated.”

After leaving Gyeongnam High School and Sungkyunkwan University, Chairman Kim Jong-tae joined Hana Bank in 1991, served as President of Hana Daetoo Securities (2006) and Hana Bank (2008), and has been leading Hana Financial Group from 2012 to the present. In 2005, Hana Bank Kolon Korea Open and 2006 U.S. Women’s Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour Hana Bank Championship joint venue, and formed a relationship with the golf world.
