The LG rollable smartphone, which is receiving much acclaim after its release, has a horizontally extended display. However, TCL’s rollable smartphone expands vertically. In other words, it unfolds from a short rectangular shape like Samsung Electronics’ Z-flip to a general bar-shaped smartphone.

The rollable phone developed by X Lab under TCL is usually used at 6.7 inches, but when you tap the screen, it increases to 7.8 inches. As mentioned earlier, the screen does not expand in the form of a tablet, but lengthens upward. The second video released is more interesting (?). Smartphones manufactured in a manner similar to the ones that were unfolded in the past, unfolding a 17-inch OLED display by pulling both rounded corners. However, it is not clear whether or not the product will be developed.

It is known that TCL is also showing its willingness to take the lead in the rollable market by introducing a scroll-type display with a display inserted between cylindrical columns. TCL predicted that the product will be released within this year, but it is unknown whether the actual product will be released.

According to industry officials, the world’s first commercialized title for the rollable phone is expected to be LG Electronics and Oppo, not TCL. This is because Oppo, a Chinese smartphone maker, introduced’OpoX2021′, a prototype rollable phone last year. Oppo’s rollable smartphone has a 6.7-inch screen in the form of a basic smartphone bar. When you open the screen, it stretches up to 7.4 inches.

Nevertheless, it is analyzed that LG Electronics is highly likely to take over the world’s first rollable phone title. The overseas IT media said that other companies are also developing rollable phone displays, but they have yet to go beyond the experimental stage.
