The new Zen-based 5000 series mobile processors will be based on the 7nm (nano) process Zen3 following the Zen2. It is the only ultrabook with an 8-core x86-based CPU that provides overwhelming power efficiency that can use up to 21 hours of video playback. Once again, it showed off the technology gap with Intel.

Dr. Lisa Su presented the performance gap in benchmarking the AMD Ryzen 7 5800U processor coming out of the mobile Zen 3 with the Intel Core i7-1185G7. AMD said its chips outperformed PC Mark by 18%, Adobe Premiere video encoding by 44%, PCMark app by 7%, and Blender 3D Raytracking by 39%. This product shows 8 cores, 16 threads, and up to 4.4GHz when overclocked. The battery lasts up to 17.5 hours for normal use and up to 21 hours for video use.

AMD also unveiled a new gaming-ready HX mobile processor. With the emphasis on Zen3 architecture-based, overclocking, and high heat resistance, AMD unveiled the Ryzen 9 5900HX and 5980HX two models at the keynote. It is explained that when’Horizon Zero Dun’ is run at 1080P, it shows more than 100 frames per second. This product also presented advanced benchmark data compared to Intel Core i9-10980HK, a comparison group.

It also introduced a new portfolio based on the Radeon RX6000 series of graphics cards and RDNA2 architecture. Dr. Lisa Su said that in the first half of this year, a gaming laptop containing an RDNA2-based CPU will be released with partners and a new desktop graphic card will also be released in the first quarter of this year.

Lastly, AMD Epic processor information based on AMD Zen3 architecture was released. Dr. Lisa Su said, “Today, for the first time, we are introducing the operating performance of the AMD Gen 3 based EPYC processor Milan (codename Milan).”

For the Milan processor demonstration, Weather Research and Forecast (WRF), a weather analysis simulation used in 185 countries around the world, was used, and the Intel Xeon Gold 6258R processor was used as a competitor. The AMD Epic processor reached the simulation 68% faster than Intel’s Xeon in 6 hours of climate analysis.
