KBO Announces Request for Improvement of Baseball Stadium Infrastructure to Candidate Mayors of Two Cities

On the 5th, two days before the 4/7 re-election by-election, opposition candidates set out to catch baseball fan votes.

In addition, the Democratic Party candidate Park Young-sun and the power of the people Mayor Oh Se-hoon, in a reply to the KBO, promised to establish a plan for the construction of the new Jamsil Stadium in Seoul as soon as possible.

On the 31st of last month, KBO delivered a request to the two candidates regarding the improvement of the infrastructure of the baseball field in Seoul.

Candidate Park Young-sun and Oh Se-hoon agreed with the need for infrastructure improvement, and sent detailed stances on plans for the new Jamsil Stadium in written responses.

The two candidates promised to come up with a reasonable solution by listening to the opinions of the KBO and the club regarding Jamsil Stadium’s job as a commercial advertising club.

It has been announced that it will actively and prospectively review additional reductions in stadium usage fees and store rental fees for Jamsil and Gocheok stadiums.

The poor infrastructure of Jamsil Stadium attracted new attention as Choo Shin-soo (SSG Landers), who returned to the domestic stage after a long major league life, expressed regret openly.

In response, Candidate Young-sun Park said, “We will actively promote the expansion of locker rooms and shower rooms for the expedition team in Jamsil Stadium,” and “The expansion problem near Gocheok Dome has practical limitations, but we will try to provide an alternative parking space.”

Candidate Se-hoon Oh showed his will to review the latest facilities as well as the direction to prepare for trend changes.

Democratic Party candidate Kim Young-chun and People’s Power Park Hyeong-joon, who were in the Busan Mayoral Election, also presented pledges that the Busan baseball fans, who are proud of their’composition’, will be appealing.

It was built in 1985 and promised to build a dome stadium to replace Sajik Stadium, which has undergone a lot of aging (candidate Young-chun Kim) and develop a complex multiplex (candidate Hyung-jun Park).

Candidate Kim also said, “We will build the Choi Dong-won Memorial Baseball Museum and promote the’Citizen Club Busan Giants’.”

Candidate Park said that he will do his best to make the Sajik Baseball Stadium a landmark in the city when it becomes the mayor of Busan, but showed a cautious position, saying, “As the establishment of a baseball field is a project that requires a huge budget, careful review and social agreement are required.”
