Ji-Oun Yoon, who is under suspicion of giving false testimony and donations related to the Jang Ja-yeon incident, is currently fleeing to Canada. Since February of last year, the Korean government has been promoting the extradition of criminals against Yun.

In the meantime, the Canadian government requested the South Korean government for the data necessary for Yun’s repatriation to Korea, but the reply was delayed for six months.

According to the JoongAng Ilbo coverage on the 6th, Canadian law enforcement officials asked the Korean Ministry of Justice in October last year to “send us a supplementary document to prove Yoon’s allegation of donating donations.” Then, the Ministry of Justice asked the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office to prepare the data for the 3rd Department of Criminal Prosecutors’ Office (Director Prosecutor Heo In-seok), and the prosecution left the job to the Cyber Safety Division of the Seoul Police Agency in November last year.

In January of this year, the police sent data to the prosecution, but the prosecution requested replenishment, saying, “It is insolvent.” The Ministry of Justice explained that the police are currently undergoing replenishment work.

Some people in the legal profession say, “Isn’t the Ministry of Justice, the prosecution, and the police crushing each other to see the Blue House?” Previously, President Moon Jae-in instructed in March 2019 to “exactly investigate” the Jang Ja-yeon incident, and Yoon is the only witness in the Jang Ja-yeon incident and has continued various disclosures. However, since then, false testimony and suspicion of exclusive use of donations were raised, and Yoon left for Canada in April 2019.

Ministry of Justice, “Compensating data… not bystander”

An official from the Ministry of Justice said, “We are preparing the data according to the procedure, but we are not crushing or bystanding.”
