The Minister of Food and Drug Safety Kim Kang-rip said on the 17th that AstraZeneca’s new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine was “worked hard to thoroughly verify”.
At the meeting of the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee’s work report, Kim answered a question about whether the safety of the AstraZeneca vaccine would be caused by a shortened vaccine license review period.
“It was approved considerably faster than usual, but the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety introduced a preliminary screening system that prepared data that could be obtained in advance, and the screening period was short, but it was thoroughly verified by requiring expert advice in’triple’.” Said.

At the same time, he explained that not only the Korea Food and Drug Administration, but also the World Health Organization (WHO) completed the vaccine review within 4 weeks to quickly screen the corona 19 vaccine.
AstraZeneca’s Corona 19 vaccine was approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on February 10 after applying for an item license on January 4.
After that, it passed the national shipment approval procedure, which was the last time before the market was marketed by the health authorities to check the quality.
This procedure allowed AstraZeneca to be used by all adults over the age of 18.
However, there is a condition that the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety must carefully determine the administration to the elderly over the age of 65. Although there is no problem with safety, it is determined that there is no sufficient basis for judging the preventive effect on the elderly.

Corona 19 vaccination will begin on the 26th. In a briefing on the 15th, Chung previously said, “Since the AstraZeneca vaccination begins on the 26th and is gradually expanded in nursing hospitals and nursing facilities, it is expected that nursing hospital workers will be eligible for No. 1 vaccination.”
