11 cases of verbal abuse and assault by emergency personnel in Tokyo for 3 years

As a result of the investigation, paramedics were assaulted by Mr. A while asking questions to determine the patient’s condition. The paramedics said, “How much alcohol did you drink?”, “How much was your eye injured?”, “Is there anything injured other than eyes?”

Mr. A asked, “How did you know that I drank alcohol?”, and the paramedics answered, “I found out because the policeman at the scene said’The teacher drank a lot of alcohol’.” Then he said, “I’m in the same place with the police,” and “I took money from the police and ate it.” In addition, it was investigated that they assaulted the paramedics, saying, “These days young things are not spoiled.”

Accordingly, another paramedic who was driving an ambulance checked the scene where a colleague was being assaulted by Mr. A on the monitor on the driver’s seat side and stopped the ambulance. Then, they contacted the 119 General Situation Room and asked the police for assistance. The assaulted paramedic got out of the ambulance, and the policeman who was dispatched to the scene took the ambulance instead and moved Mr. A to the hospital.

The fire department called Mr. A and investigated the case based on the statement of the assaulted ambulance and the CCTV footage inside the ambulance. At the beginning of the investigation, Mr. A said, “I can’t remember because I drank a lot of alcohol,” but admitted to the charges, saying, “I’m sorry,” when the fire department showed CCTV footage of his assault.

Some pointed out, “Isn’t the degree of assault weak?” over the video of the assault of paramedics released by the fire department. In response, the fire department said, “The prosecution also saw it as an assault in the context of the investigation and commanded the investigation.” .

“It is also subject to punishment for threatening paramedics”

An official from the Jeonbuk-do fire department said, “The victim of the assault said,’Isn’t it repeating because I keep closing my eyes to this assault?’ “I get mental pressure and stress to say’what to do if I get right again’,” he said. According to the Jeollabuk-do Fire Department, 11 cases of violent and assault by paramedics occurred in the Jeonbuk region from 2018 to 2020, and most of the perpetrators were drinking alcohol.

“Even if it is not merciless assault, even if it is not merciless assault, acts that threaten paramedics may be subject to judicial treatment.” We will respond strictly according to the dragon principle.”
