Vaccination for a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) developed by Modena in the US state of California has been temporarily suspended. This is because there were more side effects than normal among those who vaccinated modders with a specific lot number (production number) ‘041L20A’.

According to the Associated Press on the 18th (local time), Erica Pan, deputy director of the California Center for Infectious Diseases, said, “A higher likelihood of allergic reactions to modders or vaccines of a specific lot number have been reported. The vaccine recipient had to be treated.”

Deputy Director Fan said, “In preparation for the unforeseen situation and the very limited vaccine supply, Moder or Lot 041L20A has been investigated by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Modena, and state authorities. It is recommended to stop the administration.”

According to local media, six people were vaccinated at the Petco Park Vaccination Center in San Diego County on the 14th and had an allergic reaction. Since then, the center has been temporarily closed and reopened, and other vaccinations are currently underway. The lot number in question this time was distributed to 287 hospitals with a total of 330,000 doses of vaccinations on the 5th to 12th.

Dr. Eric McDonald, Director of Epidemiology in San Diego County, said, “Six medical staff vaccinated at Petco Park have allergic reactions, reducing the size of the center.” “The number of such reaction cases is somewhat higher than expected within a certain amount of time,” he explained.

In a statement to Forbes, a spokesman for Modena said, “We are fully cooperating with the California Department of Public Health.” “We know that other vaccination centers using the same production number of vaccines have not experienced similar side effects.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the total number of COVID-19 vaccines vaccinated in California to date is 107,2959 doses. It is about 2716 vaccinations based on 100,000 residents. The vaccine distributed in California, which has the lowest vaccine distribution rate in the United States, has 3.5 million doses.

California has the second highest per capita COVID-19 incidence rate in the United States. In Los Angeles alone, one out of every three residents was found to be infected with Corona 19.
