Jeon Byung-Hun, former chief of the Blue House, was convicted of receiving a bribe from a large company while serving as the honorary chairman of the Korea e-Sports Association.

On the 11th, the 3rd Division of the Supreme Court (Presiding Judge Dong-won Lee) sentenced former chiefs to one year in prison for violating the Political Fund Act, two years probation, and eight months in prison for business embezzlement and two years probation. Confirmed.

The judge said that the former chief received a gift card worth 5 million won from Lotte Home Shopping, and that job relevance was recognized. In addition, from November 2014 to May 2017, he and his wife took part in the crime of embezzlement in some business related to the association’s funds, such as taking 150 million won worth of the association’s funds from overseas travel expenses and false salaries of staff in the clinic. . The former chief judged that the charges of receiving 20 million won from the representative of an e-sports broadcasting company in December 2014 were also illegal political funding.

However, for the charge of receiving 100 million won along with a request from KT to refrain from unfavorable legislative activities, it accepted the judgment of the lower court that there was a lack of proof that there was an unfair solicitation on other issues. In July 2017, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance ruled that there was a lack of proof that the government officials were forced to do nothing without obligation, even for the allegations of asking the Korea e-Sports Association to organize a budget of 2 billion won.
