Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Byeon Chang-heum said that the investigation of the Hyundai Kona electric car fire is almost over.

On the 22nd, Minister Byun responded to a query by the Democratic Party member Heo-young, “When will the results of the investigation on the cause of the Kona electric car fire come out?”

However, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Automobile Safety Research Institute have not been able to determine the exact timing of the announcement of the results of the Kona electric vehicle fire investigation. The Korea Automobile Safety Research Institute is also repeating the answer that “the investigation is ongoing.”

The Automobile Safety Research Institute is working with Hyundai Motor Company and LG Energy Solutions to jointly investigate the cause of the Kona electric vehicle fire that occurred in Dalseo-gu, Daegu on the 23rd of last month. The battery of the fire vehicle was separated and sent to Hyundai-Kia Motors’ Namyang Research Center in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do.

It was found that the vehicle in the fire accident was received after Hyundai Motor recalled it. For this reason, it is known that the Automobile Safety Research Institute and others are having difficulty in grasping the fire investigation.
