
Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport candidate Byeon Chang-heum said on the 23rd, “Women are very careful about having breakfast (with strangers) because of makeup.” These remarks came from the process of clarifying the fact that when the president of Seoul Housing and Urban Corporation (SH) said, “Would people who don’t live eat rice at home or buy them because they were crazy?”
Candidate Byun explained at the National Assembly’s National Land Transportation Committee’s personnel hearing that he expressed his opinion on the idea of the shared housing concept with the aim of “don’t eat breakfast with people who don’t know Korean culture.”
Candidate Byeon said, “Especially in the case of women, they are very cautious about having breakfast together because of makeup or these things.” He added that he made the remark with the intention of “If you reduce the kitchen on the premise of that (shared restaurant), is it suitable for the actual culture?” He said, “I said it with the intent of creating a (shared house) program together so that residents select people to share breakfast with.”
Regarding his remarks with the intention of’selecting people without cars as happy housing tenants’, he said, “If you want to make a parking lot, you have to dig the basement, so the cost is high and the rent increases.” .
