When Congressman Kim inquired, “Is the card not paying?”, Minister Byeon replied, “I do not check the rate. Usually, it is around 1,200 won.”

However, Congressman Kim pointed out that “the basic fare for (taxi) is 3,800 won.”

Rep. Kim gave Finzan, saying, “Can the Minister in charge of transportation policy be able to properly perform the post of minister without knowing the basic public transportation fee?”, and Minister Byeon did not respond further.

The basic fare for a medium-sized taxi in Seoul is 3,800 won. The basic fare for city buses in Seoul is 1,200 won when paid with a transportation card, and 1,300 won when paid in cash.

Minister Byeon is a housing policy expert who served as president of Seoul Housing and Urban Corporation and president of Korea Land and Housing Corporation.
