Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport candidate Byeon Chang-heum announced that it should make it easier for developers, such as public institutions, to secure land in the process of housing improvement projects in station area and low-rise residential areas proposed as part of the housing supply plan in downtown Seoul.

Candidate Byun expressed his thoughts at his personnel hearing held at the National Assembly on the 23rd by explaining plans to expand the supply of housing in areas such as station areas.

He previously said that the supply of housing can be expanded by deregulating low-density development areas such as station area, semi-industrial areas, and villa dense areas by deregulation.

He added that when Democratic Party lawmaker Cho Eung-cheon asked for a plan to do this, he said, “There may be several methods.” “He said.

He added, “Or, there is a plan to set up a special law in this regard or to partially change the existing regulations of the’Urban and Residential Environment Improvement Act’ to apply even if the (agree) condition is low in the case of the station area.”

He said, “At this time, development profits are shared among the owners of houses, landlords, tenants, local communities, and public developers, and if the appropriate ratio is agreed, housing can be supplied in various ways in the metropolitan area or low-rise housing.”

Candidate Byun said, “In the case of low-rise residential areas, most of them cannot move even after 50 years.”

He said, “We need to do collective maintenance through consensus in these regions, but there is no main body,” he said. “If you support system improvement so that more incentives can be given, we will strongly promote it.”
