The government is launching a new agricultural and livestock consumption coupon event that gives up to 30% discount when purchasing fresh agricultural and livestock products. The budget has nearly doubled compared to last year, and the discount rate and discount target have also been expanded.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on the 6th, the government will issue a consumption coupon for agricultural and livestock products from the 28th. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food explained, “We prepared an event to overcome the problem of shrinking domestic demand for agricultural and livestock products due to Corona 19 and to relieve the burden of shopping carts on consumers.”

The agricultural and livestock consumption coupon event is held in the form of discounting through coupons or post-accumulation methods when purchasing fresh agricultural and livestock products at large supermarkets, online malls, and traditional markets. Discount coupons are paid in advance at large supermarkets and online malls, and traditional markets and local food outlets mainly use the method of giving gift certificates or accumulating mileage after purchase.

Last year, only fresh agricultural and livestock products such as pork belly and cabbage were eligible for discount, but this year, processed agricultural and livestock products were included in the discount items. Only items set by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, such as food name, traditional food quality certification, geographical indication system, and 6th industry certification products, are discounted.

The discount rate was raised to 30% for traditional markets only. For hypermarkets, the existing 20% will be maintained. This means that you can get a discount of 10,000 won for each purchase of 50,000 won at a hypermarket, and 9,000 won for each purchase of 30,000 won at a traditional market. However, the maximum discount limit per person is limited to 10,000 won. The event will also be held through Zero Pay affiliates nationwide. When purchasing agricultural and livestock products at affiliated stores, 20% of the payment amount (30% in the traditional market) is paid as a mobile Zero Pay gift certificate.

This year’s budget for agricultural and livestock products has nearly doubled compared to last year. Last year, starting in July, they gave a discount of about 40 billion won. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food explained that this year, the event will be held from the 28th until the budget is exhausted with a budget of 76 billion won.
