The city of Busan announced on the 21st that it has established a purchase support plan for 3500 electric vehicles (2303 passenger cars, 1,000 freight cars, 197 buses) in the first half of this year. For passenger cars, support has increased significantly from 1017 units last year to 2303 units this year. The number of trucks frequently used for parcel delivery and delivery will also increase from 771 units last year to 1,000 units. The purchase subsidy is up to 13 million won per car. A maximum of 26 million won per truck is supported. The subject of application is individuals over the age of 18 and corporations and public institutions addressed in Busan City three months prior to the application date for purchase support.

Subsidies for electric passenger vehicles are differentially paid according to the recommended consumer price. Vehicles less than 60 million won will receive a maximum of 13 million won, which is the total amount of subsidies, and 50% of the subsidy will be provided for those less than 90 million won. Subsidies are not provided for high-priced cars of 90 million won or more. Priority is given to 10% or more of the supply to the vulnerable, multi-children, first-time buyers, or vehicle buyers with a high effect of improving fine dust (substituting electric vehicles for taxis and old diesel vehicles).

In addition, an additional 2 million won is provided for electric taxis. If the second-tier or lower class purchases an electric car, an additional 10% of the government funding is provided. Busan City explained, “When you purchase a vehicle, you must carefully examine and apply for purchase support because you may be eliminated from the basic pension, the disabled pension, and rental housing depending on the price of the vehicle.”

The project cost of subsidy for the purchase of electric motorcycles will be KRW 1.8 billion this year, and a total of 1,000 units will be supported. The purchase subsidy is up to 3.3 million won per unit, and an additional 200,000 won is paid if an electric motorcycle is purchased after the use of an internal combustion engine motorcycle is abolished.
