When the adoption of the personnel hearing report by the Justice Minister Park Bum-gye was unsuccessful, President Moon Jae-in requested the National Assembly to send the report again by the 27th.
Blue House spokesman Kang Min-seok sent a text message to reporters on the 26th, saying, “President Moon requested the National Assembly to send a report on the progress of the hearing of the candidate of the Ministry of Justice in accordance with Article 6 of the Personnel Hearing Act this morning.” .
The National Assembly’s Legislative Judicial Committee conducted a personnel hearing for the candidate Park Bum-gye from 10 am to 11:30 pm the previous day, but did not reach an agreement to adopt the personnel hearing report. According to Article 6 of the Personnel Hearing Act, the National Assembly stipulates that the personnel hearing should be completed within 20 days from the date of submission of a motion for appointment to a candidate. If the hearing cannot be completed during this period or if the transmission of the personnel hearing report is unsuccessful, the President may request the National Assembly to resend the personnel hearing report within 10 days from the day following the deadline.
The proposal for a personnel hearing request for Candidate Park was submitted to the National Assembly on the 6th. The deadline for sending the personnel hearing report was until the 25th. Accordingly, President Moon requested to resend the personnel hearing report by the 27th.
If the National Assembly does not send the personnel hearing report by the 27th, President Moon may appoint Park as minister starting on the 28th, the day after the deadline for retransmission.
