The Supreme Court has confirmed the guilty of former Cheon Byeong-hun, former Blue House politician, who was handed over to trial on charges of receiving bribes from a conglomerate home shopping company.

In the appeal of the former chief who was charged with bribery, the third division of the Supreme Court appealed to the courthouse, sentenced to one year in prison for violation of the Bribery and Political Fund Act, and eight months in prison for business embezzlement and two years in probation. It was announced on the 11th that it was confirmed. Former chief, former chief executive, has been tried as a member of the National Assembly’s Future Creation Science and Communication Committee on charges of letting large corporations donate or support the e-sports association, where he was the president of the association. It was surveyed that Lotte Home Shopping, GS Home Shopping, and KT donated and supported a total of 550 million won, including 300 million won, 150 million won and 100 million won, respectively, to the e-sports association at the request of former chiefs. He was also accused of embezzling the association’s funds by calling an executive in charge of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance when he served as the head of government at the Blue House, asking for the association’s budget support.

The first trial admitted a large part of the charges of the former chief and sentenced him to five years in prison for bribery and other charges, and one year in prison and two years probation for the rest of the charges such as embezzlement on business. The court admitted that only 300 million won paid to the association by Lotte Home Shopping among the donations of large corporations was a third party bribe, and the rest considered innocent. A gift card worth 5 million won from Lotte Home Shopping was recognized as a bribe and was convicted of exerting influence on the budgetary affairs of the Ministry of Science and Technology. In the second trial, the 300 million won of Lotte Home Shopping’s sponsorship was turned over to innocence, and the sentence for bribery was commuted to one year in prison and two years in probation. The accusation of pressing the Ministry of Finance to organize the budget was also turned over to innocence, and the sentence for other charges such as embezzlement on business was also reduced from 8 months in prison to 2 years probation. The former chief appealed, but the Supreme Court dismissed it.
