The government has decided to ease the restrictions on business in non-metropolitan areas. As a result, from the 8th, the business hours of multi-use facilities such as gyms and restaurants in the non-capital area will increase by one hour from 9 pm to 10 pm.

The current’social distancing’ (2.5 steps in the metropolitan area, 2 steps in the non-metropolitan area) and banning private gatherings with more than 5 people will continue until the 14th, when the Lunar New Year holiday ends.

On the 6th, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (competitive script) confirmed the’social distancing quarantine measures coordination plan’.

The script explained that the background of the relaxation of the business hours restrictions in the non-metropolitan area is due to the increasing number of self-employed people complaining of difficulties due to the prolonged Corona 19 incident.

Accordingly, multi-use facilities such as restaurants and cafes, indoor sports facilities, singing practice centers, door-to-door sales, indoor standing performance halls, and party rooms in non-metropolitan areas will be able to operate in-store until 10:00 pm.

Each local government can maintain the 9:00 p.m. standard in consideration of the quarantine situation. However, Gwangju Metropolitan City is planning to decide separately after evaluating the risk level such as patient trends.

However, as the Seoul metropolitan area, where the distance distance 2.5 step is being applied, is still assessed to have a high risk of spreading, the operating restrictions are maintained until 9 pm. These industries include restaurants and cafes, indoor sports facilities, singing practice centers, door-to-door sales, indoor standing performance halls, party rooms, movie theaters, PC cafes, academies, reading rooms, and amusement parks.

The government also announced a policy to strengthen quarantine management for multi-use facilities. First of all, it was decided to implement the’One Strike Out System’ in which each local government imposes a collective ban for two weeks, apart from the penalty for negligence at businesses that violate the quarantine regulations. In addition, self-employed associations and organizations lead the way to check compliance with quarantine regulations and operate a monitoring system.

The script has decided to keep the current distancing stage until 12 pm on the 14th. It also decided to continue banning private gatherings with more than 5 people during this period.
