‘Add your heart to your snack bag.’

There is a fierce controversy over the event of the People of Delivery (Baemin) who handed out’snack bags’ to app users asking for snacks to delivery drivers. Baemin app users say that “delivery driver’s welfare is passed on to customers”, and delivery drivers “feel insulting.”

According to the industry on the 21st, Baemin started an event on the 19th to give’Thank You Kit’ to 3,000 people through a lottery for app users who apply by March 9. The kit provided by Baemin consists of a snack bag that can be hung on the door hook, a mat for delivery food, and a magnetic sticker with the phrase’I am happy today thanks to the driver’. The intention is to give a snack or thank you with a sticker through a kit that is hung at the front door, as there is less chance of encountering the driver due to non-face-to-face delivery.

However, the reaction from customers was cold. It was criticized for inducing Baemin to give customers a kind of’tip’ instead of improving the treatment of delivery drivers. In fact, on Twitter, criticism poured out such as “(Baemin) passes the welfare of the riders to customers” and “I think someone would eat without paying delivery charges”. In various internet communities, reactions such as “I need to pay for my money and eat it, should I do that?” and “Would you like to raise the fare for the article at that time?”

Delivery drivers also protested. “Delivery workers run longer distances than in the past and their income is falling even though they work for a long time.” He said, “I am only putting my life and death on marketing. Another delivery industry official expressed displeasure, saying, “I felt insulting.”

Bae Min has ended the event early. On the 21st, an official from Bae Min said, “More customers participated than expected and the event was ended early.” Baemin also said, “There were many positive responses among the customers who actually participated.” In the past, customers gave drinks to delivery drivers saying they were grateful. It was done. It was only for applicants, and not all customers were forced to audit.”
