It was revealed that the manufacturer, Boeing, was aware of the problem with the’Boeing 777′ model that caused the debris fall accident in the United States.

On the 25th (local time), the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported, citing internal data from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that Boeing had considered strengthening the engine protection cover of the 777 that had the problem several months before the accident.

The newspaper quoted sources that in 2018, when similar flaws were discovered on United Airlines’ 777 and Southwest Airlines’ 737, Boeing discussed ways to fix the problem with the FAA for at least two years.

To solve the structural problem of the engine protective cover, it was trying to replace the cover with a completely new design. However, it may take several years or more, as the protective cover needs to pass through testing and certification, according to WSJ.

Meanwhile, on the 20th, in the process of an emergency landing of a United Airlines 777-200 type airliner shortly after takeoff in Denver, Colorado, due to an engine failure, an accident occurred in which airframe debris and the like fell.

After the accident, the FAA ordered the aircraft that caused the accident in Denver to undergo an emergency inspection on aircraft of airlines around the world equipped with engines of the same series.
