[아시아경제 박병희 기자] On the afternoon of the 30th of last month (local time), it was belatedly known that there was a’iron bar riot’ by a black young man at a Korean convenience store in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.

On the 3rd (local time), Sung Yeol-moon, the chairman of the Korean American Association of Carolina, and local media outlets reported that at 3 pm on the 30th of last month, a black young man at a convenience store in Charlotte, North Carolina, run by Mr. Sung, has a metal stick that looks like a pole of a road sign. He came in and began to riot.

The black young man knocked over a cookie shelf to the floor and swung a metal stick to crush the refrigerator, freezer, table, and other items at random. Convenience store CCTV contained scenes of a black young man’s riot as well as surprised customers rushing out of the store. While wielding a metal stick, the black young man swears at the couple, “XX Chinese, return to your country.” He took out an energy drink from the refrigerator he smashed, drank, and was arrested at the scene by the police who were dispatched.

The identity of the black-eyed young man in the riot was confirmed as Harvier Rash Woody-Silas (24). Police in Charlotte Mecklenburg arrested Woody-Sillas on charges of robbery, intimidation, and obstruction of public affairs with dangerous weapons, and are also considering applying the hate crime provisions.

In this case, most of the items in the convenience store were damaged, causing property damage of at least $50,000 to 60,000 (approximately 56 million to 68 million won), according to Chairman Sung.
