Black Pink’THE SHOW’, 10 billion won in sales in 90 minutes

[뉴스토마토 권익도 기자] Black Pink’s first online concert’THE SHOW’ was estimated to have reached 280,000. Ticket sales are expected to reach about 10 billion won.

On the 1st, the agency YG Entertainment counted the number of membership subscribers for the first livestream concert’The Show’, which was held for 90 minutes through the YouTube Black Pink channel the day before, to about 280,000.

YG Entertainment said to News Tomato that “the highest number of audiences with K-pop girl group livestream concerts” and that “but we will check the exact final count results with YouTube in a few days as the first count.” It is a scale that exceeds the number of spectators of 205,000 people gathered through four performances of Japan’s three major dome tours last year.

Ticket sales for this performance are expected to reach at least 10 billion won. The average online ticket price is 42,000 won (standard 36,000 won, plus 48,000 won), which amounts to 11.7 billion won. When merchandise, etc. are combined, actual profits are expected to increase further. Last year, BTS posted 26 billion won in sales at their first online paid concert (Bangbangcon in June, 750,000 viewers) and 50 billion won in their second performance (‘BTS Map of the Sol One’ in October, 1 million viewers).

This day’s performance gave a feeling of filling the vacancy in the offline space to be faithful to the essence of the concert rather than a technical feast such as AR and VR. The foreign band team (THE BAND SIX) who was in harmony with the ‘2019-2020 World Tour’ filled the sound from start to finish.

In a compressed time of 1 hour and 30 minutes, a total of 19 songs, including representative songs, were packed tightly. Early’Kill This Love’,’How You Like That’, mid’LOVESICK GIRLS’,’SOUR CANDY’, late’Ddu-du-du-du’ ,’Boombaya’ in the order of the mega hits, so as not to miss the tension until the end.

Listening to the music of those who mainly use the addictive electronic music’hook’ that catches on their ears, it was convincing why the world-renowned music festival’Coachella’ and the world-famous pop star Lady Gaga coveted them. In addition, the stage making of the YG performance production team, who learned the stage production know-how of pop stars such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Beyonce, was added to make you feel like an offline performance.

After the performance on that day, the number of subscribers to the YouTube channel surged. Since the announcement of the performance in early December last year, about 2.7 million people have increased in two months. The number of subscribers per day is 56.7 million, ranking second among artists in the world after pop star Justin Bieber (60.6 million).
