“The struggle will open a new era.”
Yang Gyeong-soo, head of the Gyeonggi Confederation of Trade Unions, who was the first non-regular worker and was elected as the youngest chairman of the National Federation of Democratic Trade Unions (CTU) in a straight line system, made a statement on the election at the dawn of the 24th.

Candidate Gyeong-soo Yang was elected as the new executive team by winning 275,413 votes (55.68%) out of the total number of votes 531,158 in the final voting held from the 17th to the 23rd. These tenth-term leadership will begin their three-year term from January 2021.
On the other hand, candidate Kim Sang-koo, who showed a distinctive appearance from both candidates by emphasizing’social dialogue’, received 228,000,786 votes and recorded 44.32% of the votes.

Yang, a native of Gochang, Jeollabuk-do in 1976, became a temporary worker at Kia Motors in 2007. From 2012 to 2016, he served as Kia Motors’ internal subcontracting chairman. On the morning of the 24th, the KCTU presented election certificates to Yang Gyeong-soo, senior vice chairman Yun Taek-geun, and secretary-general Jeon Jong-deok. The term of office for the three is three years from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2023.
Meanwhile, in the final voting at the Seoul Regional Headquarters of the KCTU, Candidate Jin-eok Kim, No. 1, was elected head of the headquarters, overtaking No. 2 Choi Eun-cheol. Candidate Jin-eok Kim beat Candidate Eun-cheol Choi, who obtained 51,154 votes (54.74%) out of 97,208 total votes, and won 42,292 votes (45.26%) by 8862 votes.
