In the letter, Chairman Gates congratulated the successful development of the polio vaccine (Sabin PV) and expressed gratitude for solving the children’s public health problem. “We are deeply grateful for our dedication to our common goal of solving polio disease and our efforts to provide polio vaccines to people in need worldwide,” he said. “Ufolio will supply at least 185 million doses over the next five years. “It will play a key role in eradicating polio infection as an important technology that can enlarge the disease.”
Vice Chairman Shin also sent a reply letter. Chairman Bill Gates is engaged in various activities to promote public health through the foundation. Since 2017, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has provided a total of $576,000 (approximately 63 billion won) funding to LG Chem’s ufolio and six ufolio-based mixed vaccine projects. It has also supported SK Bioscience’s development of a corona vaccine and KT’s development of corona infection risk measurement technology based on movement lines.
A supply contract of 80 million dollars (about 87 billion won) was signed with UNICEF, an international relief organization, and more than 20% of the total supply of UNICEF will be supplied. Starting next month, it will be supplied to more than 70 countries around the world, mainly in the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
