President Biden said, “I look forward to seeing Tanden play a role in my administration.”
Tanden, a liberalist, strongly opposed the approval of the Republican Party for his history of tweeting criticism at the level of criticism targeting Republican lawmakers in the past.
In past tweets, he compared Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell to the dark wizard’Voldemort’, a villain in the Harry Potter series.
In addition, he called Congressman Tom Cotton a’crook’ and accused Congressman Susan Collins of being’worst.’ Progressive Congressman Bernie Sanders also attacked.
At a recent confirmation hearing, Tanden said, “I deeply regret and apologize for the language I wrote,” and deleted about 1,000 tweets in question, but failed to calm the Republican backlash.
The decisive blow to Tanden’s fall was the opposition of Democratic Senator Joe Manchin. With the Democratic Party and the Republican Party splitting 50 seats in the Senate, it was predicted that the Senate approval would virtually pass through the Democratic Party’s departure vote.
Tanden is the first case of President Biden’s nomination of ministers and ministerial figures who failed to cross the hearing gate.
From the beginning of his inauguration, President Biden, who has been putting a strong drive in state affairs, such as responding to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), is bound to be a significant blow.
Tanden, who is Indian descent, was expected to set a record of becoming the first head of the budget for women of color in US history if he had crossed the hearings gate, but reports that predicted the possibility of falling because of Tanden’s past partisan remarks from the time of his nomination.
