President Biden said, “I talked to the Japanese Prime Minister, and he is working very hard to make sure that he can hold the game safely. I think whether it is safe to do it should be based on science.”
“Imagine that every player who has worked hard for four years to participate in the Olympics suddenly loses that opportunity.” “I feel their pain, but we have to make decisions based on science.”
He added, “We are a government that values science, and other countries will do the same,” he added. “We hope that we will be able to participate, but we still have to watch it.”
This is the first time that President Biden has made his stance on hosting the Tokyo Olympics since his inauguration.
