US President Joe Biden said that he had spoken with Chinese President Xi Jinping for two hours at night on the 10th (local time). President Biden spoke with Xi on the 21st day of taking office.

According to foreign media such as CNN, President Biden said, “I spoke with Xi Jinping for two hours last night” at a meeting with senators belonging to Democratic and Republican parties in the White House office on the 11th.

President Biden said, “You will know well. It was a good conversation. I know him well. We spent a lot of time together during the years that I was Vice President.”

“But if we don’t go ahead, they will eat our lunch,” he said, introducing China’s investment in infrastructure such as railroads.

With tensions rising between the US and China, the currency between the US and Chinese leaders covered a variety of topics.

According to a White House statement, President Biden stressed that protecting the security, prosperity, health and way of life of the American people and preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific is his priority.

It also expressed fundamental concerns about China’s coercive and unfair economic practices, the crackdown of Hong Kong, the crackdown of human rights in Xinjiang, and the increasingly tough behavior in the region, including Taiwan.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Xi said in the currency, cooperation between the United States and China is the only correct option in front of the two countries.

In addition, he reiterated that Taiwan, Hong Kong and Xinjiang related issues are internal to China and are related to Chinese sovereignty. He added that the US should respect China’s core interests and act carefully.
