[아시아경제 조유진 기자] US President Joe Biden called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “killer” and said he would “pay a price” for allegations of intervening in the US presidential election last year.

According to CNN, President Biden said in an interview with ABC’s Good Morning America on the 17th (local time) that President Putin will “pay a price” for leading a slanderous operation in the last presidential election.

He said in his first call after taking office in January with President Putin that he would retaliate if Russia’s involvement in the US presidential election was confirmed.

“We had a long conversation,” he said. “I know you and you know me. If I confirm that there was a (president intervention), I’ll have to prepare.”

When asked if President Putin thinks he is a’killer’, President Biden replied, “Yes.”

President Biden did not comment on the “price Putin will pay,” but cited three US State Department officials that the Biden administration will announce sanctions to the next week for intervention in the US elections such as Russia.

Earlier, the National Intelligence Service (DNI), which oversees 18 intelligence authorities including the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), said in a report that was declassified the day before, “Russia exerted a multifaceted and secret influence to change the results of the 2020 presidential election.”

The report contained the circumstances under which Putin ordered an election intervention to support the re-election of former US President Donald Trump during the US presidential election last year.

Meanwhile, Russian House Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin accused him of “an attack on our country,” saying, “Biden’s remarks insulted our people” through the Telegram channel.
