One day before the inauguration of the 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden, who was elected, gave a farewell speech in his home. Biden-elect left Delaware, his second hometown on the 19th (local time) and entered Washington, DC.

According to the Associated Press on that day, Biden gave a farewell speech before heading to Washington, DC from Newcastle, Delaware. Biden-elect, born in Pennsylvania, moved to Delaware when he was 10 years old and has been living until now. Delaware also served as a political base, with Biden-elect serving as a federal senator for 36 years.

Biden-elect expressed his gratitude to Delaware through a speech that day. “You did both good and bad with me,” he said. “I am very proud to be the son of Delaware.”

Biden’s speech was addressed at the State Defense Forces and Reserves Base, named after his son, Boy Biden, who died of a brain tumor in 2015. During his speech, he hung his throat several times as if he was overwhelmed with emotions, and also showed tears. “The only sad thing is that he is not here right now,” said Biden, in memory of his deceased son.

After the event, Biden took a private plane to the Air Force Base in Maryland near Washington. He attended a commemoration event for the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), and stayed at the’Blair House’, a presidential guesthouse near the White House, before taking office. On the morning of the inauguration day, after attending a Catholic Mass, he will head to the Parliament Building where the inauguration ceremony is held.
