Bethesda Enters Xbox Game Pass, Opens MS’Service Type’ Exclusive Strategy

As Microsoft (hereinafter referred to as Microsoft)’s acquisition of Zenimax Media was completed, the games representing Bethesda at the center were registered as the Xbox Game Pass service model. Amid competition in the next-generation console market, the’service type’ monopoly strategy that Microsoft draws is starting to take off in earnest.

In this regard, Microsoft announced the registration of the Xbox Game Pass for Bethesda games through its official Xbox blog. There are a total of 20 registered games, including many popular series representing Bethesda and Jennimax media such as’Dishonored’,’Doom’,’The Elder Scrolls’,’Fallout’ and’Wolfenstein’.
The newly registered games can be used freely on platforms such as PC, Xbox console, and mobile (cloud gaming) only to Xbox Game Pass users.

The news of the Bethesda game registration goes beyond the aspect of expanding Microsoft’s game business competitiveness through a simple expansion of the Xbox Game Pass line-up, and is also raising interest in future moves in the market.
Most of the large projects, such as’The Elder Scrolls 6′,’Starfield’, and’Indiana Jones’-based new works, which Bethesda is preparing in the future, will also go directly to the Xbox Game Pass in the future. In particular, vice president of Microsoft’s Phil Spencer, who leads the Xbox game business, has expressed his intentions through a number of media outlets and channels about the possibility of a’Bedesda’s new Xbox monopoly. Since the completion of the acquisition of the Zenimax Media, he also revealed his goal for the Game Pass monopoly strategy, saying, “Our goal is to provide great exclusive games to all platforms where Game Pass exists.”

Meanwhile, Xbox Game Pass is preparing to launch the PC version of the cloud gaming platform this summer, in addition to expanding the provided game lineup. Microsoft, which has begun to develop a monopoly strategy that encompasses PC, console, and mobile beyond console devices, is drawing attention from the market for their future moves.
