There is controversy that the candidate Park Bum-gye, the Minister of Justice, omitted forest fields of more than 6000 pyeong in the details of the property report of public officials. Candidate Park’s position is that the forest field has low economic value and there is no reason to intentionally omit the report.

According to data obtained by Rep. Yoo Sang-beom of the National Assembly Legislative and Judiciary Committee on the 4th, candidate Park acquired half of the shares (about 6424 pyeong) of 42,476 square meters in the forest, 25-2, Yakmok-ri, Shenzhen-myeon, Yeongdong-gun, Chungbuk.

As a result of checking the certificate of all registered matters, the candidate still holds the forest field, but it is not in the property report of public officials.

Not only this time. If you look at the list of regular property changes reported by the National Assembly Public Officials Ethics Committee, it can be seen that the forest has been omitted from the registration and disclosure of property of public officials every year since candidate Park was elected as the 19th member of the National Assembly in 2012.

Candidate Park reported the forest field as his own when Roh Moo-hyun was appointed as the Second Secretary for Civil Affairs of the Blue House in August 2003. However, the eight years from 2012 to last year, when he was elected as a member of the National Assembly, were not included in the property report.

Regarding this, an official from Assemblyman Yu pointed out, “Even though the property was registered in 2003, the continued omission of reports during the process of reporting the property of candidates during the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st National Assembly elections seems deliberate.”

If a high-ranking public official omits or refuses to report property, the Public Officials Ethics Committee may request dismissal or disciplinary resolution in accordance with Article 22 of the Public Officials Ethics Act.

In addition, if a candidate for an election fails to report property to the Election Commission and then announces it as an election publication, the public official election law is committed to promulgating false facts, etc., and is subject to imprisonment for not more than 5 years or a fine of 30 million won or less. Can be punished. However, the statute of limitations on the election law is 6 months.

Rep. Yoo said, “Rep. Kim Hong-geol is being prosecuted and tried on the alleged omission of property, and even though it is impossible to pay due to the arrival of the statute of limitations, it is pointed out as a serious moral fault.”

In response to the controversy, the preparation team for the personnel hearing hearing of Candidate Park explained that the forest field has no reason to intentionally omit the report due to its low economic value.

The preparatory group said, “The forest field was included in the list when reporting property directly in 2003. However, it was omitted in the process of reporting property after the election of the National Assembly.” In addition, the preparatory team added, “(Candidate Park) has been acquired since the age of 7, and it is due to not being recognized as a property that can be disposed of in general.
