The virus infection is spreading again in Beijing, which was considered a safe zone for the novel coronavirus (Corona 19). In particular, in Wangjing, an area where Koreans are concentrated in Beijing, the movement of confirmed patients has been confirmed, increasing anxiety in the Korean community.
The Beijing municipal government held a press conference on the 26th and announced that two additional new confirmed cases were confirmed as of 0~24 pm on the 25th. Both of them reside in Beijing’s Shunyi District. It is about 10km away from Chaoyang District, where Wangjing is located. However, one of them was found to be Wangjing. This is the first time that a direct confirmed case has been confirmed in Wangjing.

According to the results of an epidemiological investigation by the health authorities, Jie (29), an office worker at an American company in Wangjing, has commuted four times since the 14th and all used the subway. It was on the 16th that he first noticed signs of physical abnormalities such as nausea and sore throat. Afterwards, he went to work as Wangjing on the 17th and 21st, and was admitted to the hospital on the 24th to be confirmed.
Due to this, access to the office building in Wangjing, where he attended, was also blocked from the previous day. The quarantine personnel inspected 2975 people in the building, and the results were all negative. However, one out of 280 environmental samples in buildings tested positive for nucleic acid testing. This is why the possibility of further transmission cannot be ruled out.
At the same time, Beijing’s quarantine authorities investigated close contacts of two confirmed cases and revealed that currently five have been tested positive for coronavirus. These five were confirmed to live in Sunui-gu. As they were asymptomatic, they were not reflected in the confirmed cases. The apartments in the Sunui area where they currently reside are also under control.

Currently, the total number of confirmed cases in Beijing is 13.
