While China stopped broadcasting the BBC, it was reported that Hong Kong’s public broadcaster RTHK (Radio TV Hong Kong) also stopped broadcasting the BBC.

According to the Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP) on the 12th local time, RTHK announced that it will not broadcast the BBC program from 11 pm on the same night.

Programs that have stopped being broadcast are BBC World Service and BBC News Weekly.

The BBC World Service aired every night from 11 PM to 7 AM, and News Weekly aired every Sunday at 7 AM.

The reason for the discontinuation of broadcasting is the lack of broadcasting requirements.

Recently, the BBC reported on the outbreak of the novel corona19 in Xinjiang and in Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region in western China.

China protested that the BBC report undermined China’s national interests and undermined national unity.

The BBC condemned the ban.

The BBC issued a statement, “We reported the story of China and Hong Kong as truthfully and fairly as everywhere in the world. We will not give up our journalism, we will not accept accusations based on ideological bias.” Said.

He added, “We will continue to make every effort to provide news to people in the future.”

There have also been criticisms in Hong Kong for undermining press freedom.

“The ban has raised concerns that other broadcasters’ programs could be banned at any time,” said Chris Young Kin Hing, head of the Hong Kong Journalists Association.

RTHK union chairman Gladyschu said, “I am very sorry for this move. It is against the broadcaster’s mission to provide various programs.”

He also criticized “Unprecedented” that the Chinese authorities’ decision had an impact on the Hong Kong media under the one-country system.
