Barunsesang Hospital proves to maintain water pressure among the world’s first 2-port endoscope… SCI-level registration

The paper of the spine clinic research team at Barunsesang Hospital was published in an SCI-level international academic journal.

According to the hospital on the 5th, a paper related to 2-port spinal endoscopy jointly researched by Director Youngho Hong (a neurosurgeon specialist) and Dongwon Seo (a specialist in orthopedic/rehabilitation medicine) was listed in the SCI-level journal’World Neurousurgery’. .

The study is related to 2-port endoscopy, a spinal treatment surgery such as neck and lumbar disc (intervertebral disc herniation), spinal canal stenosis, and anterior spinal dislocation, and was conducted to identify and resolve the causes of side effects that may appear related to increased water pressure during surgery. The hospital explained.

Recently, 2-port endoscopy, which enables minimal wounds, fast recovery speed, and accurate target treatment, is becoming the latest trend in spinal surgery. However, 2-port endoscopy had a problem that various side effects (postoperative headache, low back pain, etc.) may occur if the water pressure increases during the operation.

The research team proved the statistical significance of the water pressure measurement for the first time in the world by comparing and analyzing the water pressure with and without the use of a working sheath that maintains the waterway during surgery. This is a thesis that solved anxiety about the side effects of 2-port spinal endoscopy by maintaining constant water pressure during surgery, and it was evaluated that it provided safe and useful information for the treatment of spinal patients, the hospital said.

Director Young-Ho Hong (first author) said, “I think it is meaningful that this study is able to provide a safe medical environment for spinal patients.” We look forward to helping patients with useful treatments.”
